Foster Care Spotlight – “Amy”

Foster Care Spotlight - "Amy"

“Amy,” an older teen girl, has been in foster care since 2007. She has been in over 30 different placements over the years. It was looking like she would age out of the system without any family support. Children who age out of foster care without support often face many difficulties. 4Kids was able to find a foster family that brought “Amy” into their home. She successfully remained with this family until she reached adulthood. The foster home provided support, one-on-one attention, and the resources to obtain a job and get set up with mental health services, all within a home setting instead of congregate care. “Amy” has now become an independent young adult with significantly more support and resources than she had previously, thanks to a loving family who welcomed her in.
